Novena in Honor of our Lady of Miraculous Medal

"FIRST DAY"


Opening prayer for each day

"O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee."
Virgin most pure, conceived without sin, all fair and stainless in thy Conception; glorious Mary, full of grace, Mother of my God, Queen of Angels and of men - I humbly venerate thee as the mother of my Savior, who though He was God, taught me by His own veneration, reverence and obedience to thee, the honor and homage that are due thee. Vouchsafe, I pray thee to accept this Novena which I dedicate to thee. Thou art the safe refuge of the penitent sinner; it is very fitting, then, that I should have recourse to thee. Thou art the Mother of Compassion; then wilt thou surely be moved with pity for my many miseries. Thou art my best hope after Jesus; thou canst not but accept the loving confidence that I have in thee. Make me worthy to be called thy child, so that I may dare to cry unto thee: "Show thyself a Mother."



Special prayer for this day

O spotless mother, who showest thyself upon thy Medal with thy arms outstretched in loving greeting to embrace me. I come to thee to beg thy help. By that torrent of mother's love which well up from thy stainless heart, by that smile of maternal tenderness which ever plays about thy lips, present this, my petition to Him who can refuse me nothing if only I asked through thee. Let it not be said that thy open arms were closed to me who fly to thee, my last refuge and hope, to find my answer at thy sacred hands. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.

O Purest Virgin and Spotless Mother, upon thy Medal thy radiant hands pour down upon the world a continual torrent of graces and blessings. Behold me at thy feet, begging but a single glance of thy love. My petition I bring to thee, knowing that unworthy as I am, thou wilt not refuse to listen to thy child's prayer. Only smile on my request. O Miraculous Virgin and God will surely give it thee for me, and thus another ray will fall from thy most gracious hands  upon a world darkened by sin. O Inviolate Mother of my Creator and my God, let not my cry go up to thee in vain. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.


“THIRD DAY”

Special prayer for this day

O Miraculous Virgin and my Stainless Mother, on thy Medal thou dost stand upon the world in regal glory as Queen and Ruler of all men. Through thy hand and thine alone, God bestows His blessings. Thou art the dispenser of Heaven's graces O Royal Lady, Treasurer of God, see me at thy feet, beseeching thee to obtain the help I ask. Shall a mother be indifferent to the crying of her child? Shall she who is enthroned above the world as Divine Almoner be deaf to the pleas of the needy? O my Queen, my Lady and my Mother, hear and answer me. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.


“FOURTH DAY”

Special prayer for this day

O my Inviolate Mother, on thy Medal thou art depicted crushing beneath thy virginal heel the head of the wily serpent. Powerful Aid of all who battle for God, lead me on to a glorious victory over my three great enemies - the world with its tinseled fame, the flesh with its shameless lust, and the infernal hosts who constantly try to drag me to the bottomless pits of hell. By that act of Divine Mercy by which thy crystal soul was ever preserved from even the faintest breath of sin, keep me for thy own forever more, and is a mark of thy special love, listen to my prayer today and answer my petition. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.


“FIFTH DAY”

Special prayer for this day

"O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee." With these words thou dost surround thy Medal, O Miraculous Virgin. Thou hast placed them there to teach me how to address thee when I come with my hands extended, begging thy help. Mary, my Mother, whose heart was never crossed with the shadow of sin, behold me kneeling suppliant before thee. If thou wilt not look upon my suffering, nor add thy saving voice to my crying before thee, throne of God, then I am miserable indeed. To thee do I come, O Mary, and I know that thou wilt not abandon me. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.


“SIXTH DAY”

Special prayer for this day

O Miraculous Mother, thou hast impressed and crowned thy Medal with twelve bright stars to show that thou art Queen of Apostles, and through them, of all the Heavenly Host. In thy virtues and thy merits, thou dost surpass all the saints; in thy heart and soul thou dost keep the flame of divine love burning more ardently than the most devoted seraph. From thy vast treasury of virtues and of merits, make up what is wanting in my petition. By thy all embracing charity, turn thy ear to my request, that loving thee and serving thee here below, I may deserve to shine as one of thy stars for all eternity. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.


“SEVENTH DAY”

Special prayer for this day

O gentlest Lady and my Loving Mother, on thy Medal thou hast placed thy holy heart, pierced with the sword of sorrow, and near it the Sacred Heart of thy Son crowned with the thorns of grief. Thou hast drunk deep from the chalice of misery, and knowest well that the arrows of life at times fall thick and fast, cut deep, and sting to the very quick. At thy feet, most chaste Virgin, I lay my heart, bruised and bleeding, and weary of the strife. Though poor and miserable, thou wilt find it filled with love of thee. Take it in thy spotless hands and instill in it new courage by obtaining my request. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.


“EIGHTH DAY”

Special prayer for this day

Look upon the Medal thou hast given me, O Lady Immaculate and my Queen. Thou hast stamped thereon the cross of Christ, thy Son. Though marked with the stars of glory, thy holy emblem bears as well the cross of agony and death. It is as much as if thou didst tell me that I cannot come to God unless I prove my valor in the fight. By that sacred wood, bedewed with the blood of Jesus, turn thy ear to my cry. By the terrible torture thou didst endure on Calvary’s top, help me in my hour of need. By the agony and shame of the first Good Friday, hear me. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.


“NINTH DAY”

Special prayer for this day

O Miraculous Mother, to mark thy Medal as thy very own, thou hast sealed it with the letter M. Behold me kneeling at thy feet, thy Medal as my as my shield over my heart. Through the power given by thy Holy name, all the strength of hell can never overcome me, for I belong to thee. A servant of the Handmaid of the Lord is all the title I could wish. Place the strong arm of thy protection about my shoulders. Let thy finger point out the path my feet shall tread. Above all, pray, O pray for me, my Mother, now and till the hour of my death. CHAPLET OF OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE

  How to pray the Chaplet of Our Lady of Guadalupe

    The Chaplet of Guadalupe has a cross, 21 beads and a medal. Between the cross and the medal, there 1 bead, a set of 4 beads and then another bead. Elsewhere on the Chaplet, there are 4 sets of 3 beads, each separated by 1 bead (total of 3).

    Begin with the following prayer:

    "Our Lady of Guadalupe,
    Mystical Rose,
    make intercession for our Holy Church,
    protect the sovereign Pontiff,
    help all those who invoke you in their necessities,
    and since you are the ever Virgin Mary
    and Mother of the true God,
    obtain for us from your most Holy Son
    the grace of keeping our faith,
    of sweet hope in the midst of the bitterness of life,
    of burning charity,
    and the precious gift of final perseverance."

Job opened his mouth and cursed his day.

Perish the day on which I was born,
the night when they said, “The child is a boy!”

Why did I not perish at birth,
come forth from the womb and expire?
Or why was I not buried away like an untimely birth,
like babes that have never seen the light?
Wherefore did the knees receive me?

For then I should have lain down and been tranquil;

DELIVERANCE PRAYER FOR THE HOME


In the absence  of a Catholic  priest who would do the deliverance of the home, the Catholic family, united in the true faith, can do it for their own house.

Things needed:
  • Holy water
  • Blessed Salt
  • Blessed Incense and Incense charcoal (optional)
  • Blessed Oil
  • Blessed Candles
  • Blessed Sacramentals (e.g. Crucifix, St. Benedict Medals, Holy Images)
Important things to do:
  • A Catholic priest should bless the Holy water, Blessed Salt, Blessed incense, Blessed oil, Blessed Candles, and the Sacramentals.
  • Every member of the household should go and make a good and holy confession of sins before a priest.
  • They should attend Holy Mass and receive Holy Communion.
  • Praying  the  Holy  Rosary  can  precede  the  rite  of  deliverance. The  rosary should be prayed reverently and devoutly.
To be prayed by the head of the family or a member of the family.

The Blessed Candles can be lighted.

(Make the sign of the Cross and say in faith) In the name of the ✠ Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Lord have mercy on us. Christ have mercy on us. Lord have mercy on us.

Prayer

Lord, almighty, merciful and omnipotent God, ✠ Father, Son and Holy Spirit, drive out from me and my family all influence of evil spirits. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I plead you to break any chain that the Devil has on me and my family. Pour   upon   us   the   most   Precious   Blood   of   your   Son.   May   his immaculate and  redeeming  blood  break  all  bonds  of  our  bodies  or minds.  I  ask  you  this  through  the  intercession  of  the  Blessed  Virgin Mary, of St. Joseph, St. Nicholas, St. Dominic, St. Thomas Aquinas and all the Saints and Holy Angels of God.  

Archangels Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, intercede and come to our help. Defend us from the Enemy of our Souls and salvation. 

(Make  the  sign  of the  Cross) In the name of ✠ Jesus,  I command all demons that  could  have  any  influence  over  me  and  my  family  to  leave  us forever. By his scourging, his crown of thorns, his cross, by his blood and resurrection, I command all evil spirits to leave me and my family.

(Make the sign of the cross) By the true ✠ God, by the Holy God, by God who can do all, in the  name  of Jesus, my Saviour and Lord, leave meand my family. Amen.

HOLY WATER

While sprinkling Holy Water in the house and around the property, pray:

By the sprinkling of holy water, drive away from us O Lord, the power of the enemy  and keep  us your servants in peace and tranquillity.(Make the sign of the Cross) In the name of the ✠ Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. (The prayer can be repeated until you have covered the whole property.)

BLESSED SALT

Blessed salt can be used in those areas that holy water cannot reach.

By  the  sprinkling  of  these  blessed  salt, drive  away  from  us  O Lord,  the  power  of  the  enemy  and  keep  us  your  servants  in peace and tranquillity. (Make the sign of the Cross) In the name of the ✠ Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. (The prayer can be repeated until you have covered the whole property.)

BLESSED INCENSE (optional)

Light a piece of the magic charcoal. Let it turn amber (all red) before putting in incense. And when putting incense and allowing its smoke to fill the room, pray:

By  the  lighting  of  this  blessed  incense,  drive  away  from  us, O Lord,  the  power  of  the  enemy  and  keep  us  your  servants  in peace and tranquillity. (Make the sign of the Cross) In the name of the ✠ Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Then go around the house and backyard with the  smoking incense as you pray:

Let  our  prayer  rise  before  you  like  sweet  smelling  incense, O  Lord. And  by  the  smoke  of  this  blessed  incense  drive away  from  us the power   of   the   enemy   and   keep   us   your   servants   in   peace   and tranquillity. (Make the sign of the Cross) In the name of the ✠ Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. (The prayer can be repeated until you have covered the whole property.)

BLESSED OIL

Dip your thumb on the blessed oil, and trace the sign of the cross on the doors and windows of the house, as you pray:

With the sign of your most holy cross and by this holy oil, drive away from us O Lord, the power of the enemy and keep us your servants in peace and tranquillity. In the name of the (Make the sign of the Cross) ✠ Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. (The prayer can be repeated until you have covered the whole property.)

Afterwards, gather in the main room of the house, and offer the prayer

Eternal rest grant unto the faithful departed, O Lord. 
And let perpetual light shine upon them. 
May they rest in your peace. Amen.
May the souls of the faithful departed, 
through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins. 
Save us from the fires of hell.
And lead all souls into heaven, 
Especially those in need of your mercy. 
Amen

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Repeat the prayers and blessings when necessary every  day as  long as it is suspected that there is still an evil spirit lingering. In the case of severe demonic infestation of the house or property, the intervention of the Church through her priest is to be sought for.

Never use a talisman or anting-anting, or anything from the occult or New Age, or consult an albularyo or mantatawas. They may seem to heal or stop the evil presence. But in reality they make it worst because now the evil spirits enter your house waiting for the right time to do their evil work.

Put the blessed sacramentals in visible places in the house including the doors.

Trust in God’s love for you and your family. Live in faith,virtue, and holiness.

HIV/AIDS Prayer

Prayer Changes Things!!! 

God of our weary years,
God of our silent tears
O Good and gracious God,
You are the God of health and wholeness
In the plan of Your creation,
You call us to struggle in our sickness
and to cling always to the cross of Your Son.

Father, we are Your servants.
Many of us are now suffering with HIV or AIDS.
We come before You and ask You,
if it is Your holy will,
to take this suffering away from us,
restore us to health and lead us to know You
and Your powerful healing love
of body and spirit.
We ask you also,
to be with those of us who nurse Your sick ones.
We are the mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers,
children and friends of Your suffering people.

It is so hard for us to see those whom we love suffer.
You know what it is to suffer.
Help us to minister in loving care, support, and
patience for your people who suffer with HIV and AIDS.
Lead us to do whatever it will take to
eradicate this illness from the lives of those
who are touched by it,
both directly and indirectly.
Trusting in You and the strength of Your Spirit,
we pray these things in the Name of Jesus.

The Prayer of St. Ephrem

The Prayer of St. Ephrem is taken in the Byzantine Church during the Liturgy of the Presanctified (Liturgy of Pope St. Gregory the Great, taken by both Catholic and Orthodox alike during this period), during all services of the Divine Office during Lent and at various other times during the day recommended at morning, noon, evening - upon arising and before retiring for the night.

PRAYER

{Making a prostration}

O LORD, Master of my life, grant that I may not be infected with the
spirit of slothfulness and inquisitiveness, with the spirit of ambition and vain talking.

{Making a prostration}

Grant instead to me, your servant, the spirit of purity and of 
humility, the spirit of patience and neighborly love.

{Making a third prostration}

O Lord and King, grant me the grace of being aware of my sins and of not thinking evil of those of my brethren. 
For you are blessed, now and ever, and forever.

Lord Jesus Christ, King of Kings, You have power over life
and death. You know what is secret and hidden, and neither our

St. John Mary Vianney, Priest


St. John Mary Vianney, popularly known as the Curé of Ars, was a French Catholic priest who was distinguished for his pastoral work and sanctity. He was born on May 8, 1786, in Dardilly, France, and dedicated his life to serving God and the people as a parish priest.

St. John Vianney is most remembered for his extraordinary gift of reconciling sinners via the sacrament of Confession. He spent many hours in the confessional, hearing confessions from all around the country. His spiritual direction affected many individuals, and he became recognized for his ability to read hearts and deliver significant counsel and support.

Despite many obstacles and trials during his life, St. John Vianney remained consistent in his dedication to holiness. He practiced strict personal mortification and prayer, spending long hours in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. Despite his little formal education, his knowledge and purity drew individuals from all walks of life who sought his counsel and spiritual guidance.

The virtue of St. John Vianney was universally acknowledged, and he was canonized as a saint by Pope Pius XI in 1925. He is honored as the patron saint of parish priests and is remembered for his unshakable devotion to pastoral care of souls, deep prayer life, and unshakeable faith.

St. John Vianney is still an encouragement to priests and other devout Catholics today, reminding them of the value of holiness, the Sacrament of Confession, and the necessity for a vigorous prayer life. His life and example continue to influence and motivate Christians to live virtuous lives and grow closer to God.

St. Rose of Lima, Virgin


St. Rose of Lima, also known as Santa Rosa de Lima in Spanish, was a 17th-century Peruvian laywoman who is venerated as a saint in the Roman Catholic Church. She is the first known person born in the Americas to be canonized.

Rose was born on April 20, 1586, in Lima, Peru. From a young age, she exhibited a strong devotion to God and a desire for a life of holiness. She consecrated her virginity to Christ at the age of 20 and committed herself to a life of prayer, penance, and serving the poor.

Despite facing opposition from her family, who wanted her to marry, Rose embraced a life of solitude and extreme asceticism. She lived in a small hut in her family's garden, dedicating herself to fasting, self-mortification, and intense prayer. Her physical sufferings, often self-imposed, included wearing a crown of thorns, using abrasive materials on her skin, and sleeping on a bed of broken glass.

Rose was known for her deep love for the poor and the sick. She cared for them in her own home, using her meager resources to provide for their needs. In addition, she sewed clothing to sell and donated the proceeds to those in need. She organized a small hospital in her house, where she would care for the destitute and sick.

Rose was also a prolific writer, leaving behind various letters and spiritual writings. In her writings, she emphasized the importance of prayer, humility, and devotion to Christ. Her spirituality emphasized the importance of suffering and offering it up in unity with Christ's passion.

St. Rose of Lima died on August 24, 1617, at the age of 31. She was beatified by Pope Clement IX in 1667 and canonized by Pope Clement X in 1671. She is considered the patroness of Peru, Latin America, and florists.

St. Rose of Lima's example inspires many to embrace a life of simplicity, prayer, and service to the poor. Her dedication to Christ and her compassion for the marginalized continue to be revered by Catholics around the world.

St. Peter Julian Eymard
Priest
Feast day: August 3


In 1811, Peter Julian Eymard was born close to Grenoble, France. When he was younger, his father had forbidden him from pursuing his desire to become a priest because he wanted Peter Julian to take over the family business.

Illness compelled him to quit the seminary soon after he enrolled. Nevertheless, he persisted, and at the age of 23, he was appointed to the Diocese of Grenoble.

He served the Marists in a variety of administrative capacities while fostering the veneration of the Blessed Mother across France. He became well-known around the country as a speaker, coordinator, and teacher. He gained a greater knowledge of eucharistic devotion during his travels and asked his superiors to establish a Marist community devoted to eucharistic adoration.

Peter established a men's community where members would alternate between living an active apostolic life and reflecting on Jesus in the Eucharist. Congregation of the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament is a group of women that he and Marguerite Guillot formed.

He had a stroke, which hindered him from speaking or walking. He passed away peacefully at home at La Mure on August 1, 1868. One day after the first session of Vatican II concluded, Peter Julian Eymard was canonized in 1962 and subsequently beatified in 1925.

St. Alphonsus Liguori

Bishop and Doctor of the Church

In 1696, St. Alphonsus was born to noble parents near Naples. His spiritual formation was entrusted to the Fathers of the Oratory in that city, and Alphonsus was known as the most devout Brother of the Little Oratory since his childhood. He was appointed doctor of law at the age of sixteen, and he pursued it with zeal and success. He soon abandoned the practice of law in favor of apostolic activity. He became a priest and focused his pastoral efforts on popular parish missions, confessions, and the formation of Christian groups.

In 1732, he founded the Redemptorist congregation. It was a community of priests and brothers dedicated to Christ's imitation and working primarily in popular missions for peasants in rural areas. He was deserted after a while by all of his original companions except one lay brother, almost as an omen of what was to come later. But the congregation survived and was formally approved 17 years later, despite the fact that its problems were far from over.

Alphonsus was appointed and consecrated as a bishop in 1762. He concentrated his efforts on revitalizing the seminary and strengthening the spirituality of his diocese's clergy and lay members. Throughout his time as bishop, Alphonsus was seen working closely with those in need, serving the poor and even opening his home to them.

As his health deteriorated, Alphonsus resigned as bishop in 1775 and returned to his native village.

Alphonsus died on August 1st, 1787. He was canonized on May 26, 1839 and beatified on September 15, 1816. St. Alphonsus Liguori was named a doctor of the Church by Pius IX in 1871, and St. Alphonsus Liguori was named the patron of moralists and confessors by Pius XII in 1950.

Mary obtains salvation for all who have recourse to her. Oh! If all sinners had recourse to Mary, who would ever be lost? ... He who is protected by her will be saved; he who is not will be lost.
Devil does not bring sinners to Hell with their eyes open: he first blinds them with the malice of their own sins. He thus leads them to eternal perdition. Before we fall into sin, the enemy labours to blind us, that we may not see the evil we do, and the ruin we bring upon ourselves by offending God. After we commit sin, he seeks to make us dumb, that, through shame, we may conceal our guilt in confession.

Your God is ever beside you - indeed, He is even within you.

Whoever prays is certainly saved. He who does not is certainly damned. All the blessed have been saved by prayer. All the damned have been lost through not praying. If they had prayed they would not have been lost. And this is, and will be their greatest torment in hell: to think how easily they might have been saved, just by asking God for His grace, but that now it is too late - their time of prayer is gone.

The past is no longer yours; the future is not yet in your power. You have only the present wherein to do good. 

There is nothing more pleasing to God, than to see a soul who patiently and serenely bears whatever crosses it is sent; this is how love is made, by putting lover and loved one on the same level. . . A soul who loves Jesus Christ desires to be treated the way Christ was treated-desires to be poor, despised and humiliated. 
There is no one, after God, who loves us as much as this most loving Mother does.

Woe to those who despise devotion to Mary! ... The soul cannot live without having recourse to Mary and recommending itself to her. He falls and is lost who does not have recourse to Mary.
